What car insurance policies are available through Great Southern Bank?

Great Southern Bank provides the following types of car insurance:

Comprehensive

Comprehensive car insurance offers the most extensive level of cover, protecting you against accidental loss or damage to your vehicle. Great Southern Bank’s Comprehensive policy offers the following inclusions:

  • New-for-old replacement of vehicles less than 2 years old
  • Up to $25,000 accidental death benefit per insurance period
  • Up to $500 coverage for child seat or baby capsule for any one incident
  • Up to $500 emergency repairs coverage for any one incident
  • Up to $1,000 coverage for emergency accommodation and traveling expenses for any one incident
  • Up to $1,000 lock re-keying/re-coding coverage for any one incident
  • Up to $1,000 coverage for personal items for any one incident
  • Up to $100 per day, up to 30 days rental car coverage after theft
  • Up to 14 days of temporary cover on your replacement vehicle
  • Coverage for reasonable towing costs
  • Up to $1,000 or market value (whichever is lesser) coverage for trailer and caravan for any one claim
  • Up to $500 transportation costs coverage for any one incident
  • Up to $20 million legal liability coverage for any one event or series of events
  • Coverage for legal costs
  • Up to $20 million supplementary bodily injury (liability) coverage for any one event or series of events
Third Party Property Damage

This is the most basic form of optional car insurance available in Australia. Great Southern Bank’s Third Party Property Damage insurance is designed to cover damage caused to other people’s property by your vehicle but not damage to your own vehicle. Its policy has the following inclusions:

  • Up to $20 million legal liability coverage for any one event or series of events
  • Coverage for legal costs
  • Up to $20 million supplementary bodily injury (liability) coverage
  • Up to $5,000 in uninsured motorists extension coverage

Are there any optional extras available through Great Southern Bank?

Yes – Great Southern Bank offers the following optional extras on its Comprehensive car insurance plan:

  • Rental car following an accident: up to 30 days, at a maximum of $100 per day
  • Removal of basic excess for windscreen claims: 1 replacement claim and 2 repairs for windscreen, sunroof or window glass
  • Tools of trade coverage: up to $3,000

The following optional excess is also available for Comprehensive cover to decrease your premium:

  • Unnamed driver excess: $2,500 for any one claim

What are some of the pros and cons of buying car insurance through Great Southern Bank?

  • 24/7 claims: you can make a claim online at any time using Allianz’s online claims form.
  • Generous rental car provision: on Comprehensive plans, you can get a rental car for up to 30 days after your car is stolen.
  • Accidental death benefit: if you die within 12 months of injuries sustained as a result of an accident, your estate will receive $25,000.
  • No Fire and Theft cover: Great Southern Bank no longer offers TPFT cover as an option on its car insurance plans.
  • Limited child seat cover: cover for baby capsules and child seats on Comprehensive policies is capped at $500.
